Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, just trying to figure out why the LRB is so much better than the Smith Enterprises which is better than the SAI which is better than the Fulton other than how much they cost. My question is basically why is forged so much better than cast.Īre the cast receivers coming apart after so many thousand rounds? So, the best way to get info is to ask questions and it seems like that is a dangerous thing to do. I want to put together a parts kit that I have had for years and am trying to figure out which receiver to use. Like you said "discussed till it gets shut down" with no answers. I have been researching my question and have yet to come up with a solid answer. Judge for yourself between knowledge and hot air. Just because a person has a million posts, does not mean he knows what he is talking about. Way to many talking points showing up in the last year or two. Look for input from folks that know the subject. This has been discussed on most forums till it gets shut down. Please take time to research your question. Please drop the personal junk, it is below even you. I never even thought about you for that post. Ham, you are not high enough on the totem pole. I am beging to see why you were booted from another place in the past. Because, quite frankly, I am tired of your immature cheap shots.ĭude, it is not all about you. Every time you write some BS comment toward me I am going to respond in kind X10. Read a few books nf1e or just continue to write threads that contribute little to nothing to discussions other than condenscending remarks and finger pointing. Has nothing to do with strength and everything about up front cost sinking and ease of machining. Realizing they are WAY over paying for something that adds nothing to a rifle based on modern casting technology. I believe folks are starting to see it already. They only insist on certain builders for warranty and in-house builds to cover for out-of-spec parts. If they can't make a bolt, how can you expect them to make a more complex receiver. I've had some absolute pathetic LRB parts. Some bought that hook, line and sinker and continue to support their purchases for some irrational, emotional reasons. SAI has built more rifles and made more receivers than all the others combined times 10.įorged vs cast has nothing to with quality. If you want to waste money and a poor warranty go forged, if you are interested in quality and support go Fulton or SAI. SEI or LRB are made to a little tighter tolerances I think and fair better with new parts. They would be my first choice with a cast receiver and just from what little I know they seem to be more forgiving when being built especially with used GI bolts and barrels. There never seems to be a wait for them and if I wanted or needed a receiver ASAP I wouldn't hesitate to go with them based upon reputation alone. On the flipside they have great prices on their receivers. I think some of their parts prices run a little high. As for Fulton Armory I really have never heard a bad thing about them. They are known for their customer service. That being said SAI makes a product that they stand behind without a doubt which can't be beat by anyone. IMHO and this is just my opinion but, I feel the SEI is a superior product. I have one now and plan on having more in the future. I don't mind paying a bit more for what I think is one of the best receivers on the market and that is SEI. Has anyone here had any completed by him? I'm considering letting him do the build on this one. I picked up a Douglas barrel in XXX from him for this and a nice new NM stock. He has a small shop and does builds, and correct mil spec coatings. They used to be in California but moved to Missouri. And 7.62 at the other end.Īlso, has anyone heard of a company by the name of AMG advertising in shotgun news. If you were to rate actions by a number system of 1 being the highest grade and 10 being the lower grade which would come out on top? LRB and Smith sound like close to the top of the list if not the best. I know 7.62 still is in business but I never hear anything good or bad about them. I know Fulton’s are cast and then machined, LRB forged and machined, Smith Enterprise out of bar stock, Springfield Armory cast, 7.62?. But I still have some questions on best quality for an action. I'm starting my M14 build and getting all of the parts together.
